The most recent publication by my mentor Dr. Stuart Lipton and colleague Dr. Tomohiro Nakamura sheds new insight into the neurodegenerative effect of S-Nitrosylation.

The title of the publication is:

‘SNO’-Storms Compromise Protein Activity and Mitochondrial Metabolism in Neurodegenerative Disorders

They describe the effect of nitrosative/oxidative stress as a common mediator in Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease.
